“Another book about Berlin club culture?”
Berlin is famous for its club culture. Berghain, Tresor, Kater Blau - these names are known far beyond the country's borders. Berlin's nightlife has long attracted people from all over the world and the city itself promotes its club culture. And yet the preservation of Berlin's clubs seems to be a constant battle against investors, against displacement and gentrification.
In “Freiräume Berliner Clubkultur” (Free Spaces of Berlin Club Culture), Tobi Allers delves deeply into this cultural landscape in which he himself is firmly anchored. His book is not a nostalgic look back, but an inventory of the diverse aspects of today's club scene: clubs as safer spaces, awareness, art and architecture in the club.
